The “smeSpire” project (www.smespire.eu) is an FP7 Support Action aiming to turn the challenges of the INSPIRE implementation into business opportunities for the Geo-ICT European SMEs sector. The purpose of the online survey available at http://www.smespire.eu/survey is to assess in 12 EU Member States represented by the partners of the project, the market potential for geo-ICT SMEs in relation to INSPIRE European Directive as an integral component of the Digital Agenda for Europa, and to characterise the obstacles for geo-ICT companies to enter this market in terms of knowledge gaps and training needs. Your personal data, as well as the main geospatial activities and the projects your company is involved in, will be collected and further processed for the purposes detailed hereafter under point 2. All the other data collected in the survey will be processed anonymously to produce statistical analyses for a desktop study on the Geo-ICT SMEs sector in Europe.
The processing of all the data collected in the survey is under the responsibility of Epsilon Italia (Project Coordinator).
As this processing deals with personal data, Regulation (EC) 45/2001, of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2000 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data, is applicable.
2. Which kind of information do we collect, for what purpose and through which technical means?
Data processed: The personal data collected and further processed are contained in Part IV of the survey, answer 3: First name, Last name, Title, Function, work email address, work mail address, work phone number. Additional data collected and further processed are contained in Part I of the survey, answer 13 (projects) and in Part II of the survey, answer 4 (main geospatial activities).
Purpose of processing: The above mentioned data will be made publicly available in the smeSpire Network database, the largest public database on GeoICT SME’s, a searchable and structured repository of information on the characteristics, activities and competencies of Geo-ICT SMEs in Europe, creating a great opportunity to promote the Geo-ICT business, advertise their skills and get them in touch with other similar companies, helping to enlarge their market in Europe.
Technical Information: Data collected will be stored in Fondazione Graphitech partner servers, using a relational database, and processed for analysis and statistics about Geo-ICT SMEs sector. Part of the data collected during the survey (Data relevant to SMEs’ contact point (Part IV, answer 3), projects (Part I, answer 13), and main geospatial activities (Part II, answer 4))will be also reused into the “smeSpire” Network database, which will be publicly available, managed by Fondazione Graphitech partner: The data collection and processing is done using Fondazione Graphitech telecommunication infrastructure and standards.
3. Who has access to your information and to whom is it disclosed?
Your data referred to in point 2 being published on smeSpire website, can be accessed only by the following partners of the smeSpire consortium with administrative privileges: Fondazione Graphitech, EC-JRC and GISIG. The possibility to update or erase your data will be granted to you through User_Id / Password.
4. How do we protect and safeguard your information?
The collected personal data will be stored on the servers of Fondazione Graphitech according to the European Commission Decision C (2006) 3602 of 17/08/2006 “concerning the security of information systems used by the European Commission” defines IT security measures in force. Annex I defines the security requirements of EC Information Systems. Annex II defines the different actors and their responsibilities. Annex III defines the rules applicable by users. 5. How long do we keep your data?
Data are stored for as long as the data subject carries out the related function, for a maximum duration of 4 years starting from filling the form. For retention after that period, a renewed declaration of consent from the data subject is required.
